What do you believe is the purpose of a college education? The purpose of a college education is to guide you in the future. It is supposed to help you get the foundations of what you want your career to be in life. Even though you dont learn all about your career it helps you know what to expect and know the basics in which will help you along the way. A college education is also supposed to help you become well rounded as a person and know how to react in all situations of life. In college you dont learn all about your major you take gen eds and other cources you are interested in which help you to become better educated in multiple aspects of life. A college education is also supposed to help you get ready for the real world so that when you get out of college you know what you need to do and how to get the job done. To me the main point of a college education is for a person to become more well rounded as a person and know how to react in the real world.
What does it mean to be educated? To me being educated means that you are a well rounded person and you are able to know what needs to be done at the appropriate time. This could be in a scholarly sense but also in the real world. In a scholarly sense people need to be able to know their studies and know what they need to do to get good grades. They also need to know all their studies so that they can grow and become a better employe in their job. In the real world being educated means that you are able to interact with different types of people and also know how to react in different situations. being educated to me ultimately means that when any situation arises in life you are able to know the right decision to make.
What experiences have you had with education that led you to this belief? Most of my beliefs about education came in high school and college because in middle school i took education for granted because i always got A's and B's without trying so i thought that it didn't really matter. High school is where most of my beliefs came from because this is where i started to see that education really mattered for the future. I saw that i needed to get good grades to get into college so that i can better myself. I also started to see that education can be seen in multiple ways and it should not be taken for granted. college is where i started to see that education means to be well rounded and not just doing well in school. You need to be educated in many aspects of life so that you can be successful in the future. you need to be able to interact with different types of people while also knowing whats going on around you and how you can always better yourself. People are not always going to be on your side so you need to be educated enough to make the right decision and know whats right from wrong.
